Thank you for supporting our incredible trip to Washington, D.C.
As the first Honor Flight to visit the capital since the end of the government shutdown, Southeast Florida Honor Flight escorted 83 veterans and their guardians to tour the Iwo Jima Memorial, the WWII memorial and observe the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington Cemetery.
It was a day filled with emotion, remembrance and reflection—and one all who attended will surely hold onto forever.
Reporter Dan Corcoran from WPTV NewsChannel 5 joined us, as did Heather Childers and Morgan Stoviak with Fox News’ “Fox and Friends.”
If you’d like to be a part of Southeast Florida Honor Flight, there are many ways you can get involved. Visit their website www.honorflightsefl.org to sign up a World War II veteran or volunteer as a guardian.
You can also run in the Inaugural Twilight Honor Flight 5k at 5:45 p.m. Nov. 1. Held for the first time ever at Witham Airport Field, runners will wear red, white and blue glow gear as they follow a course taking them on the runway, in and around airplanes and on a guided path through the woods. The event coincides with the opening night festivities of the Stuart Air Show.
Runners can also get access to the 24th Annual Friday Night Dirty Flight Suit Party—which cost $65 in advance and $75 at the gate and includes the air show, balloon glow, fireworks, food, drinks and a chance to mingle with the pilots and flight crews—for only $45. The Stuart Air Show can only offer that discount for a limited time.
You can register online at Active.com for $25. All proceeds go directly to the Southeast Florida Honor Flight Foundation.
